How to Make a No-Weave Wall Hanging

We’re all about quick DIY crafts that don’t take too much time or money to complete. We’re often scrappy with our own props here at the Mixbook studio, and we love making our own.

One of our favorite quick DIYs is this no-weave wall hanging that looks great in any space and super simple to make.  Depending on the size of your wall hanging, this project should take you around 2-4 hours to complete. You’ll see in this blog post, we chose a monochromatic color scheme that didn’t require too many different styles of yarn.

Instructions

  1. Plan the vision! Choose what kind of pattern or theme you’ll be creating for your hanging. You can get extra crafty and include braids, knots, and a variety of different colors/textures into your hanging.

  2. Lay out your yarn in the pattern that you want to create

3. We took a strand from each of our five different yarns to create a diverse textured bundle.

4. Grab your first bundle and fold it in half. Pull the loop over to the front of the dowel from behind, and then pull the ends of the bundles through the loop.

5. Continue to loop your bundles of yarn until you’ve covered the majority of your dole, leaving at least 3-5 inches on each side.

6. Adjust your yarn as you see fit, you can even trim the bottoms to create more symmetry or leave them natural

7. Using a remaining piece of yarn, tie each end to the ends of the dowel to having something to hang your hanging with. You can even rest the dowel on nails if you’d like a non-handing look.

8. And you’re all done!

We’re excited to see how creative you get with your wall hangings. Share yours using #MixbookDIY!
