Guide to Perfect Photo Book Layouts with the Mixbook Editor
The right photo book layout can turn a simple idea into a coffee-table-worthy work of art. Nailing page layouts is easy with Mixbook. Come up with an idea, gather your images, and sit down with the Mixbook Editor. A perfect photo book is just a few steps away.
Mixbook Layouts 101: Using the Editor to Adjust Photo Book Layouts
Let's go over a few basics first. You can adjust your photo book layouts by picking a blank book or prepared theme, then starting a project. The Mixbook editor will open automatically and populate the pages of your book. If you chose a ready-to-go theme, a layout is already provided for each page.
But what if you don't like the layout of some pages? It's easy to change everything from page appearance to how many photos each page has with the layout menu. If you start with a blank book, you can select the layout style for each page and apply any custom attributes you'd like. The editor automatically adjusts the layout for perfect, bleed-free printing.
Navigate to the layouts menu on the left side of the Mixbook editor to change the template for the page you're working on. You can pick from layouts specific to the theme you chose, or you can pick a different photo book layout from the full Mixbook catalog. No matter what layout you pick, it will automatically be updated with your theme's background and decorative assets.
Crafting a Gorgeous Everyday Photo Book
An everyday photo book is a great way to celebrate all those little moments in life. Gather your photos and decide exactly what kind of everyday memories you're celebrating. There's a perfect theme at Mixbook for every purpose.
Maybe you want to make a photo book to capture all your family's big memories from the past year. The Simple Wood theme is a great way to do that.
Instead of the standard first page for this book, we've swapped in a single-photo layout. The diagonal design and title plate are perfect for introducing your book. Maybe you'll call it "All the Fun Days 2023" or "Everyday Beauty"—be creative!
Pets make a fantastic subject for an everyday photo book too. Start with the Dog Pet Book theme. The stock title is "Love," but your pets' names would look great here.
Pages 4 and 5 of this layout feature a "Best Friends" section, but there's only one photo slot per page. If you're anything like the dog lovers here at Mixbook, you have more than one book-worthy photo with your furry friends. Switch up the layout to add space for more shots.
Celebrate Your Adventures with a Travel Photo Book
You've taken some stunning travel photos. Why not show them off with an artsy travel photo book? We love the Minimal Black theme because it offers a photo-rich layout with plenty of space for your favorite shots.
Some of the pages in this layout are designed for four or five photos. To emphasize dramatic shots instead, switch up the layout so that no page has more than three photos. Choose layouts with blank space around the photo frames so your best shots are displayed against a stunning black background.
You can choose different paper types and cover finishes to suit your project, but remember that these options generally add to the cost of your book. A matte finish is a great choice for a minimalist photo book like this one because it prevents glare and looks professional.
