Pin The Dollop On The Pie - A Kid-Friendly DIY Thanksgiving Game

Related keywords:DiyGame

Thanksgiving is all about spending time with loved ones, but of course, that delicious slice of pumpkin pie is a nice bonus, too. This year, while the turkey’s cooking and the pies are baking, gather the kids together for a few rounds of Pin The Dollop On The Pie!

A Kid-Friendly DIY Thanksgiving Game

This DIY game is a fun holiday take on the traditional Pin The Tail On The Donkey game, where the goal is to place your dollop of whipped cream right on top of the slice of pie. It’s easy to make and a great way to share a few laughs and spend some quality time together.

What You Will Need:

  • Tan, Orange, White, and Yellow Felt
  • Scissors
  • Felt Glue
  • Adhesive (Safe For Walls)
  • Blindfold (For Playing)

Step 1

Start by cutting your tan felt so that it looks like a piece of pie. Then, cut your orange felt to look like pumpkin pie filling. Feel free to use the pieces in the image below as a reference. My finished pie piece measured approximately 11 inches tall and 10 1/2 inches wide but you can make yours as big as you like. Complete this step by gluing your pie and filling pieces together.

Step 2

Use your white felt to cut out dollops of whipped cream. Make sure you have one dollop of whipped cream per player.

Step 3

Use your yellow felt to cut out a background piece for your pie. This piece provides a little extra wiggle room in case someone completely misses the pie. My background piece measured approximately 14 inches tall and 16 1/2 inches wide. Complete this step by gluing your pie piece to the center of your yellow background but be sure not to glue on the whipped cream dollops!

Before you play, attach the game to a wall using an adhesive that is safe to use on walls. For example, I used reusable sticky dots that were specifically made for painted walls.

When it comes time to play, be sure to have a blindfold handy and an adult present for supervision.

Final Note: Felt pieces stick together naturally, so the dollops of whipped cream should stick to the felt pie without any added adhesive. But if you do want to add a little extra support, you can attach removable sticky dots to each whipped cream dollop to ensure that they stay where they are placed.

Now it’s time to play! Entertain those grumbling stomachs and see who can get the closest to creating a picture-perfect slice of pie!
