Local Breweries Where Dads Want To Celebrate This Father’s Day

For a lot of today’s dads—especially Gen X and younger Boomers—craft beer isn’t just something they enjoy; it’s something they helped grow. Local breweries have become more than places to grab a drink. With food trucks, yard games, and laid-back patios, they’re now some of the most popular spots for families to gather and celebrate.

To find out which local taprooms hit the mark for Father’s Day, we asked 3,019 dads across the country which breweries they would want to visit that day. The answers paint a picture of relaxed, welcoming spaces that pour great beer and offer an easygoing vibe. From Harpoon Brewery in Massachusetts to Toppling Goliath in Iowa, here are the breweries families say their dads would love most.

The Top 10 Breweries Across the Country:

The Top Choice Per State:

Coastal States Lead the Pack

Coastal states made a strong showing in this year’s rankings, with New York, Florida, and Hawaii earning especially high marks. Brooklyn Brewery claimed the top spot overall, while Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown also landed in the top five—highlighting New York’s blend of city energy and upstate charm. Florida placed three breweries in the top 10, including Riptide Brewing in Bonita Springs, Crooked Can in Winter Garden, and Wicked Barley in Jacksonville. Hawaii held its own, too, with Waikiki Brewing Company coming in at No. 2 and Maui Brewing Co. rounding out the top 10. Together, they proved that a cold bottle and warm coastal air make an unbeatable Father’s Day pairing.

Breweries that Offer More than a Beer

What sets the top breweries apart? It wasn’t just the beer—it was the atmosphere. The highest-rated spots welcomed families, with outdoor seating, food trucks, lawn games, and live music. Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles and Crooked Can in Florida stood out for creating the kind of space where kids, dogs, and grandparents all feel welcome. Breweries located inside community hubs, like Crooked Can’s home at Plant Street Market, also earned praise for offering something for everyone, not just the beer enthusiast.

States with Multiple Standouts

Some states had more than one brewery make a strong impression. Florida led the way with four in the top 50. New York placed three in the top 25. North Carolina had two in the top 20, thanks to Sierra Nevada in Mills River and Wicked Weed in Asheville. Both Virginia and West Virginia saw multiple breweries land in the top 30, reinforcing the idea that smaller towns and lesser-known locations can deliver experiences on par with major craft beer cities.

Small Towns and Scenic Backdrops

Mountain towns and rural areas also made their mark. Breweries in places like Missoula and Bozeman, Montana, and Monument, Colorado, were among the most praised. Big Sky Brewing and Pikes Peak Brewing offered something beyond beer—scenic views, open space, and a laid-back pace that families appreciated. These weren’t just places to grab a drink, but destinations where people stayed a while.

Local Over Big-Name

While big names like Founders and Stone were included, many respondents favored local breweries with a more personal feel. Taprooms in towns like Elkins, West Virginia, and coastal spots like Cape May, New Jersey, earned their place by focusing on community and comfort as much as craft. For many families, the best brewery wasn’t the most famous—it was the one that felt like home.

A Place to be Together

In the end, it wasn’t only about what was in the glass. The breweries that stood out this Father’s Day were chosen for the atmosphere they created. Whether it was a sunny patio in Florida, a quiet mountain setting in Colorado, or a neighborhood taproom in a walkable town, each offered the same thing: a place where dads could relax, connect, and enjoy the day. Wherever your Father’s Day plans take you, chances are there’s a local brewery nearby that understands what the occasion is all about.

Methodology: Online panel survey of 3,019 dads based on age, gender, and geography. We used a two-step process to ensure representativeness through stratified sampling and post-stratification weighting. June 2025.
