DIY Mosaic Tile Planter
Now more than ever people are turning their homes into home offices. And while desks are generally a place of work, it definitely helps when we feel inspired working there, too! We spend a lot of our time at our desks - whether we're working, studying, or brainstorming - and it just makes sense for it to be a space that helps us feel motivated and productive.
A few simple ways you can add a little bit of your personality to your desk are:
- Adding framed art or pictures of family and friends
- Using fun trinket dishes, desktop organizers, and pencil holders
- Incorporating greenery to your space with small planters (and if you're not the best plant parent out there, no worries, a fake plant will do the trick, too)
How to Make a DIY Mosaic Tile Planter
Today's workspace refresh is an easy 5-minute DIY Mosaic Tile Planter. Mosaic tiles are always great to work with because there is so much room for creativity. You can create fun patterns and add them to an array of desktop items, including all of the ones previously mentioned above. All you need are the materials listed below and then you're all set to start making!
What You Will Need:
- A Small Desktop Planter
- Ceramic Mosaic Tiles
- Heavy Duty Glue
Step 1
Gather your mosaic tiles and start playing around with some patterns. Below are some simple designs you can use as inspiration or you can come up with your own! Once you've created a few different designs, choose the one that looks best to you.
Step 2
Keep your pattern in mind or keep an example of it in front of you. Then, start gluing the core pieces of your pattern onto your planter. For me, those pieces were four green teardrop tiles that I wanted to place in the center. Be sure to use a heavy-duty glue for this project because it will dry fast and keep your tiles in place. You can glue tiles on one side, two sides, or even all four - it's completely up to you!
Step 3
Next, glue on what I call the accent tiles. These enhance the pattern and are easier to place once the core pieces are where they need to be. For me, these pieces were mini orange teardrop tiles. I placed four of them around the green core tiles.
Once the glue has dried completely, your planter is ready to be displayed! This DIY is such a quick and easy way to spruce up any workspace, and best of all, you can do it during your next 5-minute coffee break!
