What is Auto-Create?
In one click, Auto-Create instantly places your photos onto the pages and spreads of your photo book. It does so following the format and design of any chosen theme, or with a blank canvas for those starting a book from scratch.
As an innovative design tool, Auto-Create does not place your photos randomly. It analyzes the images and all elements of a theme to determine the best possible photo placements, layouts, orientations, cover photo choices, background designs, text options, and more. It transforms your photo collection into a cohesive story with expert design details.
There’s an excellent chance that you’ll love the book made by Auto-Create. However, the results are also ready for editing in any way you desire. Make minor or major changes, or start over – your photo book is fully customizable at every stage.

How to use Auto-Create
Every photo book project follows the same basic steps, but Auto-Create transforms many of those steps into a single click with instant results. Here’s how to use it:
Step 1: Pick a theme and start a book project
Browse the hundreds of theme options in the appropriate category for your photo book project, whether it’s a birthday book, wedding album, baby book, or everyday photo book. Choose a theme, select the orientation (square, landscape, or portrait), and click “Start Book.” The new project will open in the Mixbook Studio™.
Tip: You can change to a different theme within your project at any time.
Step 2: Add photos to the project
Upload the photos you want to include in your project. In the “Photos” panel to the left of the screen, upload photos directly from your Mixbook photos, from your phone or other device, or from a connected app such as Facebook or Google Photos.

Step 3: Click “Auto-Create”
Locate the Auto-Create button (with a magic wand icon) at the top of the “Photos” panel. Click the button and confirm “Let’s do it” on the pop-up window.
Select your preferences in the next window asking “How would you like to apply selected photos?” Choose “add to new pages” (if you’re adding photos to a book with work already in progress) or “re-create book” to fill the entire book according to its theme.
Click “Apply,” and within seconds, your completed photo book will appear.
Step 4: Review the project
Scroll through the pages of the photo book designed by Auto-Create. You’ll see that at least 90% of the work is done, but you can still customize it in any way you desire.
Review any text elements of the book. Auto-Create will keep a theme’s placeholder text, so be sure to click and edit any titles, captions e.t.c.
Step 5: Customize your photo book
Every customization tool in the Mixbook Studio™ is available to use after Auto-Create has worked its magic.
Here are just a few examples of customizations you might choose to make:
- Click and drag individual photos to rearrange their placements
- Click and drag on the corners of photos and other design elements to resize them
- Edit individual photos by clicking and using the pop-up editor menu. Options include fill page, rotate, flip, move forward or back, and edit the border, shadow, shape, effects, and more
- Click on a select page or spread and try different layouts in the “Layout” panel
- Change background colors, designs, or opacity in the “Backgrounds” panel
- Add new stickers in the “Stickers” panel
- Add new text elements or change the appearance of text in the “Text” panel. Tip: Save even more time with AI-generated captions.
Click “Undo” or “Redo” as needed while customizing your photo book.
Step 6: Preview and order
A combination of Auto-Create and your own customizations should result in a photo book that you love. When your project is complete, click “Preview” for a final review of the pages and spreads. Check for any typos, blank pages, misplaced elements, or other issues. Fix them if necessary.
When you’re ready to order your book, click “Order.” Check for any warnings at the top of the page, and select your preferred book size, cover, and paper type. Complete the order – and that’s it!
