How to Create a Beautiful Backyard Wedding Venue in 5 Easy Steps

Meticulous Maintenance

Get your backyard into pristine condition with a little planned maintenance before your wedding day. Pick up fallen tree limbs, leaves, and other natural debris from your backyard. Clip the bushes, mow the lawn, and meticulously trim the grass around the patio, deck, house, and other structures. Use a lawnmower with a bag to avoid grass clippings being strewn all over the yard. Trim back unruly foliage and touch up chipping paint areas on your home, fences, patio, or deck. Freshen up flower beds with new mulch and flowers where needed.

Simple Furniture

Folding chairs offer a simple, budget-friendly way to provide seating for your guests. Create rows of four to six chairs with an aisle in between the rows. Place a white runner between the aisles. Tie a big bow on the back of each chair for a romantic, festive look. Center a small table flanked by candelabras in the front of your first row of chairs. Place a metal arch adorned with greenery behind the small table. Decorate the small table with a tablecloth, unity candle, and small pots of greenery.

Place inexpensive folding tables covered with fabric or disposable tablecloths on your patio or deck to hold drinks and food for the reception. Arrange a few card tables with folding chairs and bow-covered backs on your reception deck or patio. Cover the card tables with fabric tablecloths and place votive candle holders around a pot of greenery in the center of each table.

Pretty Flowers

Whether you prefer fresh or faux flowers, their gorgeous hues and seasonal relevance are sure to ramp up the natural aura. Include seasonal flowers in your wedding bouquet, corsages, boutonnieres, wreaths, tiaras, candelabras, vases, arches, and other wedding-related items. Interlace a bit of petite English ivy among your chosen flowers for a stark contrast that offers a romantic, earthy vibe.

 Flowing Fabrics

Continue the carefree ambiance of an outdoor wedding by incorporating lightweight flowing fabrics into your wedding plans. Pick out a wedding dress in a breezy fabric, such as charmeuse, organza, chiffon, batiste, crepe, or damask. Embellish your special dress with delicate lace for a fresh, romantic look. Choose a floor-length dress with a long train to amplify the breezy, free-flowing feel. Cover colorful tablecloths with white tulle that pools onto the floor. Drape sheer, flowing tulle in pristine white from wedding arches, bouquets, or chair backs.

Romantic Sparkle

Give your wedding a romantic outdoor sparkle with a few glittering accessories. Add sparkly sequins to your wedding dress and veil. Shiny gold or silver candelabras on floor stands incorporate an extra dose of glitz. Sprinkle a dash of glitter around table centerpieces or on top of floral bouquets. Hang twinkling clear lights from wedding arches, fences, porch ceilings, pergolas, or floor-stand candelabras.
